Washington State 2014 Supplemental Budget contains an additional $200,000 for WIC and Sr. Farmers Market Nutrition Programs! Thanks to your calls, emails and the stories you shared with legislators, they heard and felt the impact these programs make at your markets, for Washington farmers and in your communities. The additional funding provides $100,000 each to our friends at the Department of Health (WIC FMNP) and Department of Social and Health Services (Senior FMNP). Our legislators had to make tough decisions about what to fund and we worked with our partners to support several programs that collectively provide a safety net for low income families. Please take a few minutes to thank your legislators for supporting these programs and additional funding in the 2014 Supplemental Budget.
