Did You Know? - “Food Access” refers to overcoming barriers that make it difficult for resource-limited shoppers to purchase and consume healthy, fresh, affordable and tasty food. Coincidentally, working to increase food access also strengthens local economies and communities by putting federal food dollars into the pockets of farmers, providing sustainable jobs, income, and opportunities across the food web. You can read more about WSFMA’s food access efforts here.

New online series features local market vendors - ActivelyNorthwest is an online newsletter sponsored by LifeWise of Washington.  Their Healthy Eating section features a "Behind the Farmers Market" series showcasing farmers selling at farmers markets in Washington and Oregon.   Some of the Washington farmers include market favorites like Alvarez Organic Farms, Martin Family Orchards and Rockridge Orchards & Cidery.
